Hi sir , What type of disorder is chloasma? and also What causes chloasma in pregnancy? please can you elloborate it
Hi Ravikiran garu, Chloasma is a pigmentation disorder of the skin characterized by darker skin patches that primarily affect the face and other sun-exposed areas. It can affect 50-70% of pregnant women. It presents as symmetric hyperpigmented macules, which can be confluent or punctuate. The most common locations are the cheeks, the upper lip, the chin and the forehead. It is thought that the overproduction of melanocyte-stimulating hormones brought on by stress can cause outbreaks of this condition. Other rare causes of Chloasma include allergic reaction to medications and cosmetics, changes in hormones during pregnancy, hormone treatment, or while taking birth control pills, sun exposure, certain skin care products etc. There is no need to treat Chloasma, as it typically goes away after you give birth, or for some people, once you are done breastfeeding. If you find it really bothersome, however, there are some measures you can take to try to minimize Chloasma. Commonly indicated Homoeopathic medicines for Chloasma are Sulphur, Lycopodium clavatum, Sepia, Thuja, Argentum nitricum, Cadmium sulphuratum etc. None of these medicines should be taken without professional advice.
