What is an allergy?
Allergy is a very common overreaction of the immune system to harmless substances. Allergy is must a common chronic condition worldwide. A substance that causes an allergic reaction is called Allergen.
Many allergens are harmful but they do not affect the people. That allergen may be a danger, pollen, venom or anything can be allergen if the immune system has an adverse reaction.
When a person with an allergy comes into contact with the allergen the immune system gradually builds up the sensitivity to the substance before overreacting. Here the immune system needs to recognize the allergen.
As it is sensitive to all the allergen it starts producing the antibodies to attack, this process is called sensitization. This sensitization takes a few days to several years.
